12/31/24 to 1/10/25
We are back in the UAE for a few days, we are crossing it while heading to the enclave of Mosandam. We really like the mountainous north of the UAE. We meet up with our local friends to camp together.
Wadi Kub
Without great expectations, we drove with Globi to the beginning of Wadi Kub. We set up camp here for the night. It is absolutely quiet; we see four vehicles in one day. Like everywhere where the state does not send Indians to collect the locals’ rubbish, the wadi is completely full of rubbish. We unload Ernstli and drive down the wadi to the end. The wadi is a miracle. The rock formations and the rock colours are extremely impressive. We ignore the rubbish and enjoy the rest.
Begegnungen
We arrange to camp together on a weekend with our friends who helped us repair the damage to Globi caused by the accident. Casey tells us the camp spot in the mountains. We don’t make it to Casey’s exact spot, but by exploring the area with Ernstli we find an ideal spot for us very close by. It is only when we leave at the end of the weekend that we realise how great and private our spot was. The wadi is completely overcrowded at the weekend, with people camping next to each other every few meters. We, on the other hand, have a quiet and large spot to ourselves. Casey from Abu Dhabi also arrives on Thursday. Debra and Mike from Al Ain arrive early on Friday. As soon as Mike’s MAN is parked, he immediately starts a campfire. Olga and Denis from Dubai arrive later. Mike delights us with a wonderful stew from the fire. On Saturday Ernstli is thoroughly tested by Denis and Olga and by Mike and Debra, and everyone returns to the camp beaming. It is extremely nice to meet so many lovely people who are so well disposed of us. It was a very warm-hearted weekend. Such moments make our way of travelling very rich and make us happy.
WOW!
