At the last and longest stop of Globi’s European wellness treatment, Ivo from revo-mobil renewed some very important points, eradicating mistakes made by our original constructor, performing normal servicing work that became necessary after use on the African roads, and streamlining operations.
Important Equipment
While removing the ice, we destroyed our fridge ourselves. Ivo has installed a new Swiss refrigerator without ice compartment.
The homemade tinkered and already long-dead freezer, we could replace by a device with two different cool and freeze compartments.
Eliminate errors
Our originally built water intake station was not intended to be used outside European campsites. Two big notches led directly into our water tanks, the two openings were also used for ventilation. In the years in Africa, our water tanks have therefore become totally dirty. Inspired by Andreas Luthardt and the water intake constructions of our overlander friends, Ivo built a closed system with a prefilter, which filters the fresh water before it gets into the tank. The water pumps had to be dismantled and Ivo has mounted them so that they are now removable.
In the rain, the roof water ran along the blind box directly to the electric shore connection, which had been mounted completely uncovered. Ivo built a lockable protection box over it. Revo-mobil has also built a drip-nose over the windows so that the rain cannot drip through the piano hinch on the windowsill.
The outdoor shower was something we never could use because it was connected incorrectly. The electric valve could only close once, but never open again! The pipes under the chassis were laid in a way that they were all worn through! All USB ports which we use to charge our cell phones etc. have given up the ghost. Now normal 12V outlets are built in everywhere. This way the inserts for the USB are easy to replace. After the original builder had forgotten the mosquito door and then mounted a quick fix, we now installed a simple, common mosquito net with magnets.
Service work
The off-road usage has doing harm to the structure in some places. A box had to be re-glued because the bottom was dowelled from below instead of from the side, the upholstery had lost a few buttons, drawers had to be reset, the silicone in the shower replaced, the soap dispenser which was broken due to the vibrations was replaced and fitted in a way that survives even gravel roads, a gas spring was replaced and the ventilation has been optimized.
Optimizations
While traveling, we detected and noticed some things that can be optimized for our way of traveling. For example, we moved the pole pruner forward, so it is faster at hand. Likewise, we have moved other tools more accessible. The discharge of the fresh water tanks was always quite difficult, because the corresponding valves were laid very clumsy. Even with my thin office arms, I could barely reach through the metal supports. Now we have installed electrical drain valves. The heavy toolboxes were split up and the screwdrivers neatly packed. We are looking forward to using all these new and optimised things.
Hi. Globi was a bit out of fit, but now is better than new. Happy rides and merry christmas….
Hi Peter and Gabi
Well, now everything looks pretty cool and for sure you have learn all about what works for you as well what the “professional builder” did good and not! Thank you very much for sharing your histories! And by the way amazing videos on you tube!
Hi Augusto
thanx for your feedback, we love it.
